Shows islands, depth soundings in fathoms, heights in feet above high water marks, ports, tides, rivers from Mayor Island, Hikuranga, Roto Rua to the Western side and South West, Ru-rima rocks, Whakatane River, Opotiki River and Rau-kumara mountain - 4,700 feet, Wai-apu River, Tokomaru Bay, Poverty Bay Eastward.
Noted east of Whangara:
SS Star of the south reported to have struck rocks near this position.
South East of Poru-poru River mouth:
HMS Eclipse, 1865.
Commander Drury assisted with surveys by H Kerr, P Oke, Second Master W Blackney and G Stanley.
A Māori settlement is noted on Mayor Island.
