Photograph of the wreck of the steamer Waikare, which struck an uncharted rock between Indian Island and Passage Inlet in Dusky Sound, Southland, on 4 January 1910. The Waikare beached on Stop Island to prevent her from foundering. The image shows a team of men salvaging materials from the overturned boat.
