About this object
The photograph shows the damage caused by the 3 February 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake to a wooden house situated on Shakespeare Road, Napier. The hill behind the building has slipped, and the debris has covered the back of the house including the outdoor toilet. Ernest Sinclair has written underneath the photograph: Dwellings. Shakespeare Road. Badly damaged by landslides.
