About this object
View of Waitangi in the Bay of Islands, possibly taken in the late nineteenth or early twentieth century. The photograph has been taken in front of the former residence of James Busby (1801-1871) looking towards the bay. In the centre foreground a pole has been stuck into the ground. Two men and a woman stand around the pole.

A note on the album page reads: Spot where Treaty signed, Waitangi, Bay of Islands, 6th February 1840.
