Brief Description
The Russell Duncan photograph album contains personal photographs taken by Russell Duncan when he explored the Ruakituri and Waikaremoana areas following in the steps of the conflict between Pai Mārire and the New Zealand forces, August 1868. These photographs were taken between 7 and 13 February 1903.
This section is followed by images of the Bay of Islands including the historical sites of missionary settlement, John Fox's house and Waitangi house, monuments, the townships of Paihia, Kororareka or Russell, Pompellier house, Whangaroa and Ohaeawai showing the landmarks of the fight between the English and Hone Heke
Russell Duncan also photographed the historical sites of the massacre of M Marion and his crew of 16 men on 12 June 1772.
