About this object
Class portrait of the pupils of St Joseph's Native School in 1909. The front row hold cuttings of foliage.

The photograph was likely taken on the school grounds, now the site of Sacred Heart College. St Joseph’s Māori Girls College relocated to Greenmeadows in 1935 after a decrease in the roll attributed to the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake.
