About this object
Two children stand outside the “pumice house” in Farndon. The house was partly constructed of pumice blocks circa 1860. This was the home of John McGlashan who established the Farndon Brewery (also known as Waitangi Brewery) which was attached to the right side of this building. The brewery ceased to trade in 1890 and the brewery demolished.
