A view of Bodley’s accommodation house at Te Pōhue on the Napier-Taupo Road.
Visible in the photograph is the accommodation house, homestead and vegetable garden; the Post and Telegraph office, Bodley’s private school, stables, blacksmith’s shop, bakehouse and various outbuildings. The photograph is dated between 1888 and May 1912. Henry Bodley sold the Upper Mohaka Hotel and purchased Te Pohue accommodation buildings in 1888. In May 1912, the accommodation complex was destroyed by fire. The Te Waka hills are in the background.
