About this object
Photograph of a Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) Baffin bomber aircraft in the sea off Island Bay, Wellington, after it made a forced landing during a flight across Cook Strait on December 14th, 1939. A salvage rope is attached to the aircraft and three men can be seen looking towards it. A small fishing vessel is visible in the distance.
