About this object
Photograph of men, women and children at a garden party. The occasion is possibly the garden party held in March, 1909 at the home of Mrs James Collins in Havelock Road, in aid of the Hastings Presbyterian Church building fund, or one of the successive St Andrews Church Garden Fetes held between 1910-1913 at the home of Mrs J Collins or Emily Newrick in Havelock Road.

Women can be seen sitting at a table inside the marquee. Another tent in the middle distance advertises a gipsy (sic) fortune teller.

Part of a collection of glass plate negatives held by Malcolm Newrick's family. The photograph was possibly taken by Malcolm's younger brother Frederick Charles Newrick, who worked as a professional photographer.
