About this object
View of the corner of Russell Street and Heretaunga Street in Hastings following the Hawke's Bay earthquake on 3rd February 1931. Firefighters are present, and a fire hose connected to a hydrant is being prepared to manage the fires that occurred in the wake of the earthquake. A bulldozer and traction engine can be seen in front of the ruins of the Grand Hotel. The Wilson Shoe Company is visible on the right of the image, and further along Heretaunga Street is a sign for the Albert Hotel.
