About this object
The image shows damage to the Napier central business district caused by the Hawke's Bay earthquake on 3rd February 1931. The front façade and walls of the Blythes building at the top of Emerson Street are still standing. Twisted power lines litter the ground along with rubble from collapsed buildings. To the extreme left a woman can be seen walking down the street.
