The photograph shows St Paul's church, Napier, and surrounding area following the Hawke's Bay earthquake on 3rd February 1931 and subsequent fire. Roofing iron and building rubble are strewn on the ground. A brick fireplace and chimney structure can be seen on the right side of the image below a large house on the hill.
