About this object
The image features the swing bridge over the Manawatu River, and the surrounding bush. The bridge provided temporary access to the Waikopiro Block. The photograph was likely taken by Thomas Hyde or Land Commissioner for the district, Mr Humphries, who it was reported inspected the Waikopiro Block shortly before it was thrown open by the Government for settlement and succeeded in securing some splendid photographs.
The image is glued into a scrapbook that belonged to Thomas Hyde, who was a member of the Hawke's Bay Land Board.
