About this object
This photograph was taken from the ruins of the Herald building in Napier following the Hawke's Bay earthquake and subsequent fires in February 1931. In the foreground to the left are the burnt remains of cars, and to the right a brick fireplace is still standing. At the back of the image is the damaged Masonic Hotel.
