About this object
The photograph, taken immediately after the Hawke's Bay earthquake on the morning of 3rd February 1931, shows damage to buildings on Heretaunga Street, Hastings. Pedestrians and cyclists populate the road, along with a single car. The shop fronts of The Accessory Company, M Parkhill, Pastrycook, and Classical Confectioner and Tobacconist have collapsed onto the street below tangled power lines.
