About this object
The photograph, taken immediately after the Hawke's Bay earthquake on the morning of 3rd February 1931, shows damage to several business premises in Heretaunga Street, Hastings. The multi-storied building is the Grand Hotel. Visible are signs for Spot Cash Store, [Briasco's] Dry Cleaners & Dyers, tobacconist H O Shattky, and boot importer Thomson's. Several men are present in the scene.
