Brief Description
The letter from Donald McLean [Native and Defence Minister] to Mr Hamlin [Interpreter] reads:
Mr Hamlin,
Have the goodness to arrange with Wi Te Ota and other claimants for a twenty one years lease for Ngatarawa No 2 at a rental of fifty pounds a year commencing from the date on which they sign the lease.
If necessary you can pay fifty pounds or a year's rent in advance which Mr Kinross(?) will supply on obtaining the signatures of a majority of the grantees and you should see the rent divided fairly.
Herewini Ngapapa's brother is not yet appointed by the court as successor but he is likely to be so and should get a share of the rent, also a woman named Hera who if not a grantee is a claimant, and should have some payment.
