About this object
The image, taken after the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake, shows the destruction caused to St John's Anglican Cathedral in Napier. Men can be seen clearing rubble and loading it on to a truck. The Public Trust building, which withstood the earthquake, is visible in the centre of the photograph. The spire of St Patrick's Catholic Church can be seen in the distance.
