About this object
One of two key/indexes to watercolour titled: Treaty at Pā Whakairo 20 July 1863. Lists several of the people shown in the painting: 1) Donald McLean, 2) Chief Porokuru, 3) Chief Hapuku, 4) Te Moananui, 5) Chief Whare. The index also indicates: 6) a whare, 7) flour mill, 8) pots containing preserved birds for the guests, 9) lady visitors, 10) carved figure of a chief, 11) posts cut with resemblance of heads (tupuna). Māori women are also present. In total there are 60 figures.
