Brief Description
a) Letter to Molly Hamlin from her brother, Private Henry Hamlin, 6 NZ Division, 2 NZEF, Middle East Forces, dated 4th August 1942. Henry ponders on the tendency for thoughts to wander if one does not keep occupied. He is deeply shocked to hear of the passing of Joan who seemed to have everything in the world to live for. Two missionary friends have been granted permission to go on holiday in Syria, but there may be opposition from the Egyptian Government. Alan Tucker, a Gisborne acquaintance, was married in Cairo a fortnight ago.
In a postscript Henry asks what the recent quakes were like in Napier.
b) YMCA Lowry Hutt envelope addressed to Miss M Hamlin, 22 Havelock Road, Napier. Written at the top is: On Active Service. Stamped: Passed by Censor with signature.
