Mammoth Mailing Card photograph postcard of Clive Square, Napier, thought to have been taken around 1896. The band rotunda in the centre of Clive Square is surrounded by circular seating. The park area is enclosed by a picket fence.
Among the buildings visible along the road on the eastern side are Coach's Carriage Works, the Provincial Hotel (established 1876), the Trinity Methodist Church (built 1876), and W Amner Coal and Fire Wood Depot. Among the buildings visible along Dickens Street are the premises of Fortune and Black (bakers and confectioners) and the Foresters' Hall. St Patrick’s Church (built 1894) is located on the left of Munroe Street, which is lined with trees on both sides.
In the distance is Cape Kidnappers.
