Brief Description
a) Letter written by Alice Hamshar in Waghorne Street, Napier, to her brother-in-law Tom Hamshar in England, dated 15th May 1890. Alice sends news of the accidental death of her husband Fred and asks Tom to deliver the news to their poor mother. Fred was crushed to death by a large boulder while working on the breakwater. About 18 months ago he had left his job there and taken up employment at the Hawke's Bay Foundry, but got tired of that and had returned to the breakwater. Alice writes from their new address, having moved from the hill only a fortnight ago, but it is not much like home now that her husband is gone.
