Brief Description
Letter written by Fred Hamshar in Napier to his brother Tom in England, dated 19th February 1889. Fred says that as he couldn't find a photograph of the view from his house, he decided to sketch the scene himself instead [not included]. He describes the landmarks and buildings visible from his home on Barrack Hill overlooking Port Ahuriri. He also mentions a recent fire on the wool ship "Langston".
