About this object
The postcard photograph image is a wide view of fires in Napier town and at Port Ahuriri, with Scinde Island (Bluff Hill) in the middle, following the Hawke's Bay earthquake of 3 February 1931. The ship at anchor later helped transport residents brought out by tug and lighter and took them to Wellington.
