Brief Description
Photographic postcard of the Monument to Mohamed Aly in Alexandria, Egypt.
Number four in a series of four postcards of Alexandria sent to Henrietta Brady of Clive from her cousin Peter Brady who served with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in World War One.
Message reads: We have a two oz tin of tobacco and two boxes of matches issued to us a week so that is not to (sic) bad. But the heat gets me. To hot for a white man, if not it is for me. Now Hett as we are not staying here long they give us ten per cent leave each day for this great place called Cairo. It is greatest place ever I was in it opened my eyes, one does not know he is alive living in old N.Z. but give me it every time. Now Hett I could tell you a lot more about different places but one cannot write it on paper so now Hett I will close. Hoping you are in best of health as it leaves me here at present, from your loving cousin Peat.

Displayed in an album compiled by Henrietta Brady.
