About this object
Portrait of a Māori woman of Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Whatuiāpiti, Ngāti Papatuamārā descent. She is believed to be the sister of Makarena Te Piri Puhara. She wears a kahu kiwi (kiwi feather cloak) and has a white feather in her hair and a faint moko kauae (female chin tattoo).

Date unknown, probably late 1910s/early 1920s.
