About this object
The photograph shows Hastings Street, Napier, from the Tennyson Street intersection, in the aftermath of the Hawke's Bay earthquake. Several people stand gazing at the ruins of buildings that have collapsed on either side, which include Cox & Co Ltd on the right and Harston's on the left. In the middle distance a fire hose is being used. The Clarendon Hotel is visible at the bottom of Shakespeare Road.
