Brief Description
Letter from John Davies Ormond to Francis Edward Hamlin, Napier, acknowledging Hamlin's letter of the 11th regarding the accomplishment of the expedition into the Ureweras. Ormond instructs Hamlin: in case the enemy bolt to destroy the food and not to leave…the canoes and boats available for future use, except for the whaleboat and two or three good canoes.
He adds a postscript: If the Urewera surrender have them send for their women and then march the whole of them down to Wairoa - where we could determine about them.
