Public comments
The Devereux family, came from Northamptonshire originally. William Checkley Devereux, (1822-1878) and partner Ellen Gill, (c1832-1906) arrived into Petone on the ship Myrtle in early 1857. Lydia Myrtle Devereux, their first child, was born onboard the ship, hence her middle name.
