Earthquake damage to the old Hastings District High School building on the grounds of Hastings Central School, Karamu Road South. The photograph shows damage to the exterior of the building. The sign on the left side of the door reads: School Dental Clinic; sign on the right side: Nurses.
The brick two-storey building was opened on 8 May 1908 by the Hon. George Fowlds, Minister of Education, and Sir William Russell, Chairman of the Education Board.
