Brief Description
The illuminated address was drawn and painted by Henry Charles Adolphus Wundram and presented to Edward Crowley on 2 May 1914. On the right hand side are five images of Napier, cut from postcards into oval shapes. On the left is the Municipality of Napier crest and the Napier Bowling Club flag.

The address reads:
To Edward Crowley Esq.
Your many friends cannot allow you to leave Napier without expressing regret at your departure although that regret is tempered with the knowledge that you are entering a wider field for the exercise of your abilities. During your many years’ of residence in Napier you have won golden opinions of all classes of men, and you have made a host of friends who are loath to part from you. As a Borough Councillor you have rendered valuable services to the town by supporting every progressive measure; and your name has been closely associated with the inauguration of the municipal tramway system.
As a bowler you have taken a very keen interest in the game and your name amongst Bowlers is a household one for your good fellowship.
You carry with you our best wishes, and our hope is that the best of health, happiness and fortune may wait on you in the future.
We are your sincere Friends:
J Vigor Brown, M.P., Mayor
The Mayor's name is followed by other members of the Council and the Presidents and Secretaries of Napier and Hastings Bowling Clubs.
