About this object
The photograph shows the destruction caused to St John's Cathedral, Browning Street, Napier, after 3 February 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake and subsequent fire. The Sunday school building, although slightly damaged and showing signs of having been burnt, still stands intact. A part of the Cathedral's side wall with an entrance door, still stands. In the background is Hastings Street, on which are visible, the remains of buildings.

Photographer, although not signed the photographer is probably Arthur Bendigo Hurst.
