The photograph shows Blythes Limited store in Hastings Street, Napier, after the 3 February 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake and subsequent fire.
Only the shell of the building remains. This section of the Blythes store sold bedsteads, carpets, and linoleum. The tram lines can be seen in the middle of the road. Stan Buchanan has written on the back: Blythe's (sic) Store in Hastings Street.
