The photograph shows the destruction caused by the 3 February 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake to the De Pelichet, McLeod & Company building, Hastings. The top storey exterior walls have been destroyed and the bottom storey walls remain intact. The road in the foreground has been cleared of debris.
