The photograph shows the damage caused by the 3 February 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake to a brick house on Cobden Terrace, Napier. The walls have partially collapsed and the roof is badly damaged. There is a wooden fence in the foreground. Ernest Sinclair has written underneath the photograph: Wooden house - Cobden Terrace.
