About this object
The photograph shows the devastation caused by the 3 February 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake and subsequent fire, to buildings at the corner of Hastings and Emerson Streets, Napier. St John's Cathedral Sunday School building can be seen in the background. The Cathedral cross can be seen at the extreme right. The debris has been cleared up. Ernest Sinclair has written underneath the photograph: Shopping area - main streets of Napier.
