The photograph depicts the exterior of the Hawke's Bay Farmers Co-operative Association building, Dickens Street, Napier which was used as the temporary Post Office after the 3 February 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake.

Standing outside the building are a group of men with their bicycles leaning against the wall. Underneath the image is written: Temporary Post Office. The Staff. Post Office is written on the sign attached to the wall.
