About this object
The portrait is of an unidentified Māori man. He has a moko, is wearing a korowai and holding a pounamu mere. In his hair are three feathers. Standing up against the wall are two rifles and a crutch. He may have lost a leg as he is seated with only his left leg visible. Written on the back of the photograph is: Tamihana.
