About this object
The photograph shows the marble body of the trooper from the South Africa War monument situated in front of the Masonic Hotel, Marine Parade, Napier. The monument is minus it's head which was broken off when the sculpture fell during the 3 February 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake. The trooper is attached to a corrugated iron wall with wire.
