The portrait is of Ferdinand von Tempsky Kettle of Napier, who worked for Williams & Kettle Limited before enlisting in the 4th Reinforcements Wellington Mounted Rifles for World War I pre 17 April 1915. He was a Lieutenant. The photograph is glued into a photograph album titled: Members of Williams & Kettle's Staff Serving with the Colors.
