About this object
The portrait is of John Elpingstone Thomson of Napier who worked as a clerk for Williams & Kettle Limited before enlisting in the Auckland Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion for World War I in 1916. He was killed in action at Ypres on 1 August 1917, aged 21 years. The photograph is glued into a photograph album titled: Members of Williams & Kettle's Staff Serving with the Colors.
