About this object
The photograph shows a view towards Cape Kidnappers with Marine Parade in the foreground. The public gardens on Marine Parade constructed after the Hawke's Bay earthquake of 3 February 1931 are visible. The image would have been taken before 1936 as the T & G building has not been constructed. The Athenaeum is visible on Browning Street. The lawn has been laid out but neither the Colonnade nor the Soundshell have been built.
