Brief Description
The shipping company’s ledger covers the years August 1878 – June 1882. It is unknown which company it belonged to as there is no indication within the pages of the ledger. Along the top of each page is an entry for the ship with the master of the vessel identified. Underneath are lists showing the amount of the freight taken on board, description of the goods, where the freight was bound for and to whom, the name of the company or person sending it from Hawke’s Bay and the cost.
