The photograph is Jill and Jack. Jill is on the left, Jack on the right. The photograph is glued to a page in Leo Bestall's diary and album. Underneath the image he has written: Jill and Jack. In a letter to his mother written on 25 August 1917, Leo records that he and Mac went to Eel Pie Island with two girls who called themselves Jack and Jill.
