About this object
The photograph shows three stretcher bearers on the Somme battlefield. They would be soldiers in either the 1st or 3rd New Zealand Field Ambulance Medical Corps. The photograph has been glued to a page in Leo Bestall's diary. Above the photograph Leo has written, On the Somme in 1916. Underneath are the words: Stretcher party at work before the rain came.
