About this object
The photograph shows a New Zealand soldier on the deck of the S.S. Nile. The photograph is glued to a page in Leo Bestall's diary and album. He has written under the photograph: Beccie with a flapjack pancake made by the Lasca sailors on the Nile. There are other soldiers lying on the deck around him. Leo Bestall was on the S.S. Nile which carried the New Zealand troops from Alexandria to Devonport, England.
