About this object
The photograph shows soldiers from the E & F Sections of the New Zealand Medical Corps Reinforcements standing at attention at the Awapuni racecourse. The photograph is glued to a page in Leo Bestall's diary and album. He has written under the photograph: Night before we left for Featherston. Supposed to be one of the smartest guards turned out in New Zealand.
Leo has identified several of the men with initials, nicknames or surnames: Lassette, Reese, PKK, Mac and Beccie. Leo Bestall is in the front row 2nd from the left. Beccie is standing beside him.
