Brief Description
The Upper Makaroro Hut visitor book covers the years 1960-1968. The Upper Makaroro Hut belonged to the New Zealand Forest Service and was situated in the Ruahine Ranges. The contents of the book include poetry, sketches, comments, weather forecast readings, sketched maps and instructions to potential visitors about firewood and the general care of the hut. The entries were written by trampers, hunters and New Zealand Government Forest Service deer cullers who spent time in the hut.
