Brief Description
a. The letter is addressed to my dear sister Martha (Martha Edmondson) from her brother-in-law Josiah Webb. In the letter Josiah thanks Martha for her sympathy note regarding her sister Libby's (his wife) death. He writes about his deep grief associated with the loss of his wife, his religious beliefs and the love of his daughter Polly and his sons. Both the letter and envelope have black strips around the edges signifying grief.
